A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new $1.7 million addition to Free Will Baptist Family Ministries’ on-campus school was held Thursday, August 14.   The new wing adds an additional 10,000-square-feet of space to Stokes Academy, which is located at the entrance to the Family Ministries campus in the Camp Creek community.

A large crowd of friends and supporters of Family Ministries were in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and luncheon held on site.  Among those attending were the architect for the new addition, John Fisher, as well as Jeff Idell, co-owner of Idell Construction, the building contractor.

In a news release, Family Ministries’ President and CEO Frank Woods said, “Today puts in motion a dream many of us at Family Ministries have had for some time.  This new expansion will allow us to better educate the children in our care and ensure they have the same educational advantages as every other child.  Next to leading the children we serve to Christ, the next most important thing we can do for their future is to educate them.  With an education, these children have a better chance of being productive citizens in society.”

Testimony

It was here that that wounds of the past were healed and a love for adventure was instilled that released me from being place-bound. It set me on a path to a wider experience. Right here I developed a concern for other people and learned to accept love as well as give it. In this very place, a desire was born in me to pass on the message that had made my life glad....
